About Training Clubs.

Overview.

Training Clubs were set up by the University of Derby College, Buxton to provide local communities with training. The University aimed to reach learners who would not be able to travel to their Harpur Hill, Buxton campus or who, due to work or family commitments, were unable to study at a traditional evening class.

Each training club contains a number of computers through which courses such as Word Processing, Computer Literacy and Information Technology (CLAIT), Sage Accounting and the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) are delivered. You can read more about the courses we deliver on our Courses page.

Each club is staffed by a facilitator who is there to guide students who are taught via Open and Distance Learning packs and each student is supported by a tutor based at the University.

The clubs are also used by the University's home-study students to meet tutors.
